Dr Geoff Edwards is Adjunct Professor, Centre for Governance and Public Policy, Griffith University, and President of the Royal Society of Queensland.
From 1991-2006 Dr Edwards served in Queensland's Department of Lands/Natural Resources as Manager, Land and Regional Planning, responsible for policy on issues. From January 2007 he acted as Chief Executive Officer, South West NRM Ltd, one of Australia's 56 regional bodies accredited for the purposes of the Natural Heritage Trust, based in Charleville. He returned to the Department of Mines and Energy, to work on energy policy, and retired from the public service in July 2011. Geoff studied public administration (University of Queensland), and his doctorate from Griffith University for a critique of the mainstream view that the market is the optimum vehicle for determining where the 'public interest' lies. He has published in animal biology, economics, foreign affairs and public policy.
