Former CMC Chair 'pans watchdog changes'

Amy Remeikis, State political reporter, Brisbane Times, reports on Robert Needham's submission to the Legislative Affairs and Community Safety parliamentary committee inquiring into the Crime and Misconduct Commission, under the headline 'Former CMC boss pans watchdog changes':   'A former Crime and Misconduct Commission chairman has added his voice to the chorus of concern over the government's proposed changes to the independent watchdog, claiming some of the changes risked "destroying public confidence" in the Commission.  Robert Needham, who served as chair between 2005 and 2009, wrote to the parliamentary committee reviewing the legislative changes, questioning the need to remove bipartisan approval for the CMC chair and commissioner appointments and give control for the CMC's research function to the Attorney-General.'
