Michael Roche, retiring CEO of the Resources Council, has criticised government funding being allocated to the Environmental Defender's Office. (Felicity Caldwell, Brisbane Times 17.11.16).
'A spokesman for Attorney-General Yvette D'Ath said the Palaszczuk government honoured an election commitment to reinstate funding to the EDO and other community legal centres.
'He said the state government gave $200,000 a year, for five years, split between EDO Queensland and the Environmental Defenders Office of Northern Queensland.
'"EDOs are not prohibited from representing clients in court or tribunal proceedings against the state," the spokesman said.
'"At the same time, the government is committed to supporting jobs in both the resources sector and renewable energy sector."'
