The Future of Manufacturing Jobs in Queensland

The TJ Ryan Foundation, in collaboration with the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union (AMWU) and the University of Queensland's Institute for Social Science Research (ISSR), has led a major research project on the current state and future prospects of Queensland's manufacturing sector. The project team's final report, 'The Future of Manufacturing Jobs in Queensland', can be accessed at the link below (with acknowledgements to our research partners at the AMWU and ISSR).

TJ Ryan Foundation Deputy Executive Director, Emeritus Professor Paul Boreham, describes the project's output:

'This collaborative project involving researchers from the TJ Ryan Foundation, the Institute for Social Science Research at The University of Queensland and the Australian Manufacturing Workers' Union examines how new and emerging technologies and new employment arrangements are contributing to a major shift in traditional manufacturing and in traditional manufacturing jobs. The project report provides strong evidence-based research to support policy decisions about where to place resources and training to ensure that the manufacturing labour force in Queensland finds and maintains secure jobs into the future.'
