Professor John Quiggin: 'Privatisation of the electricity industry'

Professor Quiggin argues that the Bligh government’s case for privatisation was flawed.  In particular, the central claim that the proceeds of asset sales could be used to finance new expenditure on schools, hospitals and roads, was dismissed by economists, including those who supported privatisation.
