Dr David Solomon

Dr David Solomon AM, MA, LLB, D.Litt, is an Adjunct Professor in the School of History, Philosophy, Religion and Classics at the University of Queensland. He was awarded the Doctorate of Letters “after due examination of his published work on Australian Government, politics and constitutional law.” All his degrees are from the Australian National University.
Dr Solomon recently completed a five-year term as Queensland Integrity Commissioner. He was Chair of the independent committee that reviewed Queensland’s Freedom of Information legislation in 1997-8, resulting in the passage of the new Right to Information Act. He was chairman of the Queensland Electoral and Administrative Review Commission in 1992-3.
His primary career before coming to Queensland in 1992 was as a journalist working in Canberra covering politics and then the law.
He has written 11 books on politics, political history, constitutional law, the High Court and has published many articles in these fields. Mainly his current research interest is Queensland since the Fitzgerald report.
