Professor Laurie Buys is an experienced social science researcher and research manager, who frequently collaborates with scientists from various disciplinary backgrounds on complex research initiatives. Professor Buys' main research interests fall under the broad headings of social sustainability and social gerontology, focusing specifically on issues associated with community engagement, corporate social responsibility, sustainable buildings and active ageing. Professor Buys holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from West Virginia University, a MS in Rehabilitation from Southern Illinois University, and a PhD in Rehabilitation and a Graduate Certificate in Gerontology from the University of Northern Colorado. She is a Fellow of the Australian Association of Gerontology as well as a former president of the Association. Professor Buys is the recipient of over $4.7 million in external research funding and the supervisor of more than 20 completed HDR students. |
