Our Research Associates include a large panel of academic researchers with expertise in diverse areas of public policy, drawn from across several universities in Queensland and beyond. Many researchers also have significant experience inside the public service. 

These experts can offer an additional source of policy advice for those developing or commenting on public policy in Queensland. All members, their research fields, and their contact details, are listed below.

Specialisations / Bio

Dan Keating retired as a Superintendent from the Queensland Police Service (QPS) in 2013 after almost 40 years service. In recent years he was responsible for Service policy in areas including drugs and alcohol, mental health, suicide prevention, crime prevention, and general operational policy. He also represented the QPS on state and national committees related to these policy areas. During his service he was also involved with operational policing, criminal investigations, corporate governance, corporate risk management and major projects.

He also served secondments to the Queensland Liquor Licensing Division in 2006 and the Queensland Reconstruction Authority in 2011. Also he served as a long term member of the State Council of the Queensland Division of the Institute of Public Administration Australia (IPAA).

His primary interests include law enforcement, alcohol related violence, crime prevention and relationships between public agencies.
