Specialisations

  • Child health

Robyn has worked in the area of child health for the past 32 years in rural, regional and metropolitan areas in Queensland. During this time she has worked in many aspects of the role including clinics, schools, high schools, immunisation, antenatal and acute paediatric settings, education and more recently liaison. Robyn currently works with the Children’s Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service in Brisbane as a Clinical Nurse Consultant.

Robyn is particularly interested in how services work together and has completed a PhD looking into collaboration in health care. The research concluded that the concept of collaboration serves an important social function in obscuring the complexity of social relations in healthcare. Rather than adopt an unquestioning attitude to what is represented as collaboration the thesis argued for a more critical examination of what is occurring, what is potentially hidden and how specific interests are served through its use.
