Ann Scott holds a PhD in Government from the University of Queensland, 1984, awarded for her thesis: 'The Ahern Committee and Education Policymaking in Queensland'. She worked for 20 years as a policy advisor in the Queensland public service, including the Department of Education (1984-87), Cabinet Office (1990-92); the Review Division of the Public Sector Management Commission (1992-94); and the Office of the Commissioner, Queensland Police Service (1994-2004). Since retiring in 2004 she has concentrated on research and writing, including publishing a biography of the British civil servant Ernest Gowers: 'Ernest Gowers: Plain Words and Forgotten Deeds' (Palgrave Macmillan: 2009). She holds the Public Service Medal (Australia); Queensland Police Service Medal; and Queensland Police Commissioner's Award for Meritorious Service. |
