Senate Inquiry: Peter Wellington evidence

Senator calls Peter Wellington ‘ineffective’

The Sunshine Coast Daily (29.11.14) report on Peter Wellington MLA’s evidence before the Senate Inquiry into the Queensland Government. ‘Mr Macdonald asked why Mr Wellington had not made a motion for the laws to be sent to committee. “Are you that ineffective of a state parliamentarian?” he said. Mr Wellington said the claims were offensive, and there had been no point referring them to committee with the LNP dominating the parliamentary process. He admitted he had voted for the anti-bikie laws when Liberal Senator Matthew Canavan asked. “I relied on the assurance of the Attorney-General, of the limited scope of the legislation,” he said.”It would have been fruitless.”‘
