Inequality: the facts and the future

Policy Online carries a link (21.8.16) to a Chifley Research Centre report on the threat of greater levels of inequality between the wealthiest and poorest groups in Australian society.

‘This report argues that Australia is well placed to resist the economic and political pressures which can make us more unequal over time. If we do this, our economy will continue to grow strongly and middle Australia will see the benefits of that growth in higher living standards. The alternative – to go down the American road of rising inequality, slowing growth and stagnant living standards – would be bad for all of us and political instability.’
