Mines should favour locals: Queensland Mines Minister

The Brisbane Times reports (17.3.16) on state government moves to ban 100 percent FIFO workforces on new mine projects in Queensland.

‘The Queensland government will ensure mining projects will have to employ local workers before considering fly-in, fly-out workers.

‘On Thursday, Mines Minister Anthony Lynham tabled in parliament the government’s response to a committee report that called for proponents to focus on local workforces first.’
