Bleijie to stay as Queensland MP

Amy Remeikis reports in the Brisbane Times (28.2.16) that state opposition frontbencher, Jarrod Bleijie, has declined LNP approaches to nominate for the seat of Fisher at this year’s federal election, declaring his ‘commitment’ to winning back office for the LNP in Queensland.

‘Former Attorney-General Jarrod Bleijie has ruled out a tilt for Canberra, confirming his “determination” to see the LNP win the next state election.

‘Mr Bleijie had been approached by Queensland LNP figures and asked to consider running for pre-selection in the seat of Fisher, with Mal Brough confirming his decision to step down late last week.

‘But following the LNP State Council, Mr Bleijie announced he would be staying on as the member for Kawana.’
