Brisbane council election: Labor pledges more money for drains

Cameron Atfield reports in the Brisbane Times (29.2.16) on Labor plans to increase expenditure on flood mitigation drainage as part of its Brisbane City Council election campaign.

‘A Labor Brisbane council would spend an additional $20 million on Brisbane’s major drains in an attempt to mitigate local flooding, lord mayoral candidate Rod Harding pledged on Monday.

‘Mr Harding said a Labor administration in City Hall would nearly double major construction spending in the 2016-17 budget, from $10.6 million to $20.6 million.

‘It would also increase local drainage construction by about 50 per cent, from $20.2 million to $30.2 million.’
