Brisbane council election: Labor’s $1.44m campaign war chest revealed

Cameron Atfield reports in the Brisbane Times (18.3.16) on details of donations to Rod Harding’s Lord Mayoral election campaign, revealed by the ALP as promised during debates over political donations by land developers and other business interests.

‘Labor’s $1.44 million Brisbane City Council campaign war chest has been revealed, with the party’s investment corporation, Labor Holdings, bankrolling 83 per cent of Rod Harding’s campaign.

‘Mr Harding, the Labor lord mayoral candidate, released details of the $1,439,220 in donations his campaign had received between January 1 and 4pm on Friday.

‘Their release was a promise Mr Harding made at the height of a donations controversy that plagued the Liberal National Party’s election campaign earlier this month.’
