Queensland political culture – planning for the G20

Queensland political culture and planning for the G20

After listening to the panel on the ABC Radio National’s ‘Big Ideas’ forum on ‘Policing in a mature democracy’ (to be broadcast at 9pm on 12.11.14) Professor Roger Scott reflects on the Brisbane G20, and the dilemmas for a civilised society coping with emerging challenges to a peaceful existence.

A Leahy cartoon ‘Welcome to Brisbane G20 … tell me again how this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to encourage tourism?’ appeared in the Courier-Mail (12.11.14). This is reminiscent of Alan Moir’s 1982 cartoon when Brisbane hosted the Commonwealth Games.
