Seeney on what went wrong

Amy Remeikis asks former Deputy Premier, Jeff Seeney, about the mistakes made by the LNP (Brisbane Times, 2.3.15). Amongst his comments was one about inexperienced staff in the Premier’s office:

‘I think we underestimated the challenge of bringing not just the Premier, but all of his associated staff and senior advisors into a situation where they weren’t familiar with the accepted norms and weren’t familiar with the processes.

‘It was a huge step to make, coming into a situation where all of those things were new and on reflection I think that we underestimated what a challenge that was.

‘There is a whole culture around state government that those of us who serve our apprenticeship in state government, we all learn it. It is very difficult when you have a large group of people who come into that culture without understanding it.’
