Adani faces High Court appeal

The Brisbane Times (19.9.16) reports that ‘Conservationists have lodged an appeal to stop the construction of Australia’s biggest coal mine, slated for Queensland’s Galilee Basin. The Australian Conservation Foundation on Monday lodged documents in the Federal Court appealing against its ruling in August that found the approval of Adani’s Carmichael coal mine was lawful.

‘The ACF is seeking to have the appeal heard by the court’s full bench, made up of three judges, on the grounds burning coal from the mine would have an impact on global warming and the Great Barrier Reef.’
