‘Direct Action’ given the green light

In The Conversation (30.10.14) experts react to the news that the Palmer United Party has reached a compromise with the Government and will support its Direct Action legislation in the Senate.

Direct Action – fiscal recklessness?

The Guardian (30.10.14) cites Malcom Turnbull 2010 speech saying that direct-action style schemes were “a recipe for fiscal recklessness on a grand scale” and “schemes where bureaucrats and politicians pick technologies and winners, doling out billions of taxpayers’ dollars, neither are economically efficient nor will be environmentally effective”’.
