The Newman government and the Abbott government share a blind faith in the benefits of privatisation. Taxpayers risk giving away public assets, to help the budget bottom-line, and then face being gouged for higher prices for services they previously owned as a public asset.
If this sounds overly-pessimistic, just look at the experience in conservative-ruled Britain which is the mainspring of so much emotion and reverence from the current incumbents in government. A Conservative government is guilty of rewarding its mates in the Big End of the City by offering them the Royal Mail in their version of ‘sale of the century’.
